Following extensive consultation with local residents and stakeholders, there have been a number of improvements to Sainsbury's original development proposals

• A significant reduction to the number of apartments, from 136 to 45
• The provision of more family housing
• The introduction of a frequent shuttle bus service, connecting the site to the
• town centre and adjoining residential areas
• The provision of a roundabout on Macclesfield Road to improve access to
• the foodstore and the retail and employment units
• Enhancements to the River Churnet, including improved pedestrian routes.

If approved, the development will create hundreds of new jobs for local people, including up to 350 employment positions at the Sainsbury's foodstore alone

As part of the development plans, a number of Churnt Works' exisiting tenants will remain at the site, trading out of new and improved facilities.
