Following extensive consultation with local residents and stakeholders, there have been a number of improvements to Sainsbury's original development proposals.

• A significant reduction to the number of apartments
• The provision of more family housing
• The introduction of a frequent bus service, connecting the site to the
• town centre and adjoining residential areas
• The addition of highways improvement proposals
• Enhancements to the River Churnet, including improved pedestrian routes

The development will create hundreds of new jobs for local people, including up to 350 employment positions at the Sainsbury's foodstore alone.

The entire development will be served by dedicated car parking, as well as new roads, footpaths, cycle routes and a dedicated bus route to link with other parts of the town.
Highways improvements will also be made to the existing road network as part of the council’s Town Centre Masterplan. These improvements will address current congestion problems in Leek, something that has been needed for a very long time.
